Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain production and facility equipment according to safety, preventive and productive maintenance systems and processes to support the achievement of the site’s business goals and objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Makes repairs to production and facility-related equipment/systems utilizing, but not limited to skills in the areas of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, carpentry, fabrication, small engine maintenance
  • Performs preventative maintenance on production and facility equipment and systems; provide feedback to the maintenance supervisor on any deficiencies discovered in this process
  • Performs routine inspections on life-safety systems
  • Installs plant equipment and machinery
  • Installs electrical circuits, plumbing as needed to support facility requirements and production.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical multi-meter, gauges and other test instruments as needed to diagnose and troubleshoot production and facility issues
  • Operates powered machinery and tools in the execution of daily duties; including, but not limited to powered fork trucks, personnel lifts and powered lawn equipment
  • Provides emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during production and performs scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service
  • Reads and interpret sequipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service
  • Diagnoses problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments
  • Detects faulty operations, operative material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

  • May participate in lean/six sigma/quality/safety initiatives as required

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Does not supervise others

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or GED preferred. In lieu of diploma, relevant work experience demonstrating the required job skills and abilities needed to
  • 1-3 years industry experience preferred

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
  • Must be certified to national electric Code (NEC) or NFPA 70, ANSI/NFPA 70.
  • Ability to work from verbal, visual and written instructions in order to complete assigned tasks within set time allotted
  • Ability to read measuring device
  • Ability to read shop drawings
  • Ability to work adjusted schedules and overtime when required
  • Demonstrates proficiency in mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines
  • Operation of small power tools, other hand tools and computerized and high-pressure equipment
  • Goal oriented and team focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Work is accomplished in a moderately clean plant environment
  • The production floor does not have a cooling system
  • The sound level is the work environment may fluctuate due to noise associated with manufacturing processes
  • Regularly exposed to dust, odors, oil and/or fumes

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional lifting up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders, bend, kneel, work overhead with arms, and sit or stand for several hours at time
  • Eye/hand coordination required, with steady and agile hands to operate equipment and tools
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules

TRAINING:

  • New employee safety orientation and training on special tools or software required for job performance
