The Clinical Records Technician operates electronic health record indexes and storage and retrieval systems to collect, scan, classify, and store information, and assists clients and the public with obtaining and releasing health information according to regulatory standards and requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Knowledge and SkillsStrong oral and written communication, and excellent customer service skills. High level of proficiency with computers and ability to work with electronic medical records, various software programs and databases, and enter data with speed and accuracy.
AbilitiesDetail oriented with the ability, to organize, manage multiple tasks, and complete work accurately within specified timeframes either independently, or with the team. Must be able to apply analytical thinking and decision making in order to use relevant information and individual judgement to determine whether events or processes comply with regulations or standards.
Physical AbilitiesWhile performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to use hands and fingers, operate a computer and phone, and sit for extended periods of time. Close vision and the ability to adjust focus are also required. Must be able to stand, crouch, reach with hands and arms, and lift up to 25 pounds.
Education and ExperienceHigh School Diploma or GED. Required skills include proficiency with computer systems and ability to adapt to multiple software applications. Exceptional customer service skills, both verbal and written, and ability to perform a variety of office tasks are also required. Education and/or experience working with electronic health information, data entry, and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred.
