Description

SUMMARY
The Program Director-AmeriCorps is responsible for successful implementation of the City’s residential efficiency, health, and safety program. Primary duties include managing the AmeriCorps grant, supervising and mentoring program staff and volunteers, and serving as the liaison to Serve Indiana and Corporation for National and Community Service. Position is funded for 1 year. Years 2-3 depend on annual renewal of 3-year grant. Years 4 and beyond depend on successful reapplication.

Supervision of AmeriCorps Operations Manager
Supervision of AmeriCorps members (10 full-time during the first year).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Manage AmeriCorps grant, including application, renewal, reporting, and administration.
• Manage relationship with Serve Indiana and Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS), Attend all required trainings, including occasional overnight travel.
• Manage AmeriCorps members (10 full time in first year) including recruiting, onboarding, training, benefits and payroll, conflict management, and compliance with grant requirements.
• Develop, maintain, and monitor program and grant budgets. Complete expense reports and reimbursement requests.
• Coordinate between other relevant City functions for optimal program management (e.g. Administration and Finance, Human Resources, Innovation and Technology).
• Develop and execute internal partnership strategies to maximize benefits of program (e.g. Fire Dept, Historic Preservation, Residential Repair Grant Program, Lead remediation).
• Identify and manage strategic external partnerships to maximize benefits of program (e.g. utilities, building trades, weatherization agencies, other AmeriCorps programs).
• Identify and pursue funding and donations to support the program.
• Develop and deliver outreach, communications, and marketing strategies for program activities.
• Develop and implement volunteer opportunities and manage volunteers.
• Provide technical and programmatic assistance to other City departments interested in AmeriCorps program. Serve as internal expert for Serve Indiana and CNCS opportunities.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required.
• A minimum of four years of supervisory and financial management experience required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Meticulous attention to details and deadlines.
• Passion for community service.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including telephone and email.
• Trustworthy and responsible with sound judgement.
• Interest in mentorship and growth of AmeriCorps members.
• Ability to develop strategic relationships. Collaborative and team-oriented.
• Ability to learn new software. Competent with MS Office.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
• Valid United States Driver’s License required.

EQUIPMENT
Desktop and laptop computer, telephone, and other general office equipment (including but not limited to printers, copy machine, scanners, etc.).

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in an office setting with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate in the office. Entire office is smoke free.
