SUMMARY:

Position to provide strategic direction based on database KPIs and micro analysis based on programming and

customer segments to include Retail, Moderate and VIP segments. The Database Analyst will utilize strong

analytical, quantitative and research skills to support consumer and online marketing functions. The position

will use transactional data to develop statistical models, reporting and other ad hoc analytical work.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

Utilize various software applications at an expert level.

Plays an integral role in data mapping of the data warehouse.

Plays a underpin role during the budget process providing trends and forecast.

Develop reoccurring KPI reports mapping database health statistics. Interpret data, provide insight and

recommendations.

Identify program specific trends and make recommendation for program improvement, i.e. day of week,

program type, offer reinvestment, market segment, etc.

Develop reinvestment models and projections for campaigns.

Responsible for completion of down trender reports, player migration and reinvestment metrics based on

Tier score and ADT assessment.

Develop customized test and control methodology for ease of use and interpretation.

Maintains player Tier segmentation to include monthly sweeps (upgrades and downgrades), as well as

year-end down grades.

Develop and execute customized reports and provide advanced training to end user.

Conduct front and back end analysis of marketing programs related to casino marketing and direct

marketing.

Monitor marketing programs and evaluate effectiveness.

Work closely with Player Development on list management and list tracking.

Facilitates the flow of information throughout the department by attending regularly scheduled meetings

and conveying accurate information to affected departments.

Must be able to investigate and help solve data quality issues.

Maintains all project files for active and future database marketing programs and mailings.

Create master pro-forma of the marketing calendar.

Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior

management.

Identify target market segments by demographic characteristics and develop strategic plans for each.

Develop questionnaire designs with internal validity while identifying targeted population and deployment

of instrument. Oversee results and report functions.

Able to effectively communicate with the Marketing Managers to understand program requirements and

logistics.

Ensure compliance with all policies and procedures.

Held accountable to the highest degree for the accuracy, thoroughness and confidentiality of tracking

records and reports.

All other duties as assigned.

 
Position Requirements

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

Manage staff members as defined by the organizational structure. Providing guidance and leadership for

the department. Hire, train and develop associates. Coach, counsel and terminate associates as needed.

Supervises various associates as assigned by the Director of Database Marketing.

THE COMPANY REQUIRES EVERY ASSOCIATE TO:

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Four (4) year degree in Marketing and/or Computer Science or six (6) years experience in database

marketing or analysis or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Three (3) years in analysis or database management experience required.

Expertise in all areas of database management including data capture, pro forma development, analysis

and statistical modeling preferred.

Three (3) or more years of supervisory experience required.

or successful completion of a related company approved development placement program.

SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience writing queries against relational databases required.

Possess knowledge of data structures required.

Comfortable with technology.

Knowledge of SQL preferable.

Possess excellent communication, strong organizational and time management skills.

Ability to perform well under changing conditions and tight timelines.

Must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority.

Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Responsible for following all relevant DGR’s.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group situations and to moderate-sized

gatherings of associates, executives and/or community leaders.

Must be able to read and interpret complex terminology including financial reports, wage surveys,

contracts, leases and legal documents.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

percentages, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as statistical

inference.

REASONING ABILITY:

Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data,

analyze facts and determine appropriate response.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

Talk and hear.

See and adjust focus to include close, distance, depth, and peripheral vision.

Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl.

Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.

Lift and/or move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:

A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).

A moderate-to-loud noise level (public areas).

Second-hand cigarette/cigar smoke.

WILLINGNESS AND ABILITY TO TRAVEL:

This position will be utilized to support all Grand Casino properties and will require travel between other

sites in the region.

Occasionally off-site training is required and may include interstate and/or intrastate travel. This may

include air travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:

A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).

A moderate-to-loud noise level (public areas).

Second-hand cigarette/cigar smoke.

Chemical solutions such as cleaning, polishing and lubricating compounds.

Moving mechanical and/or electrical components.

The risk of electrical shock.

Regularly exposed to radiation (from computers).
