Purpose of Classification:
The purpose of this classification is to perform work relating to entry and retrieval of information from the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) and the National Crime Information Center (NClC) systems.
Essential Functions:

Essential functions include the following: Process new hires for the city by fingerprinting and conducting background check; disseminate sensitive GCIC databanks via GCIC/NCIC terminal computer to other law enforcement agencies; communicate via digital mobile devices with emergency dispatcher; process firearm licensing; work permit;
Respond to GCIC/NCIC hit request from other agencies; performs GCIC/NClC wanted person's inquiry on offenders, missing persons, and stolen property; place detainers/holds on offenders for extradition, immigration and other local law enforcement agencies; process apprehension requests for law enforcement agencies to apprehend offenders within a limited timeframe; enter missing person
Update inmate record upon receipt of change request in GBI CCH information; enter warrants;; validate GCIC/NCIC warrant entries; modify and cancel warrants on GCIC/NCIC; Log and disseminate GCIC/NCIC sensitive information to authorized personnel and/or other law enforcement agencies; Monitor GCIC/NCIC Computer Terminal;
Clears/removes all invalid warrants, missing persons, and stolen property entries from the GCIC/NCIC; conduct Criminal History background investigations via GCIC/NCIC computer terminals.
Perform customer service functions in person, by telephone, by email, or by mail; respond to routine questions and complaints; research problems and initiate problem resolution; refer complex complaints/problems to appropriate personnel.
Processes a variety of documentation associated with department operations within designated timeframe and adherence to established procedures.
Operate or use various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments; operate a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data, utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation, internet, e-mail, or other systems and software; and operates general office equipment as necessary to complete essential functions.
