Clinical Social Worker Supervisor

Role Description: The clinical social work supervisor is responsible for both the clinical and case management services provided to children placed in the treatment foster care program and their family members, and the foster family. Two other major responsibilities are to assist the family life education staff and foster parents integrate the components of daily living in an educational manner and to conduct home studies.

Accountability: This position is accountable to the director of Family Life Education.

Key Result Area #1 - Oversee the clinical operations of the foster care program

This Key Result Area will be completed when:

  1. services identified in the growth plan are implemented to the benefit of the child and their family.
  2. resources are located that are necessary to meet assessed and documented needs for the child and their family.
  3. visitation is provided as planned with a child and their family.
  4. clinical and case management staff receives regular supervision.
  5. clinical services to foster child, foster families and biological families are monitored for appropriateness and effectiveness.
  6. growth planning occurs within the context of agency philosophy.
  7. referral workers are responded to in a prompt and effective manner.
  8. adoptions are carried out in accord with the law and agency policy.
  9. the ability to analyze case information and teach sound clinical and therapeutic decisions on the basis of such information is demonstrated.
  10. consultation is arranged for in situations that growth process has been stymied or arrested through inviting in staff Guild staff experts or obtaining paid consultation outside of Guild professional staff.

Key Result Area #2 - Administrative duties

This Key Result Area will be completed when:

  1. the program director's request to assist with maintaining regulatory compliance foster parent recruitment, training, on-call coverage, community awareness are met.
  2. continuous quality improvement data is turned in a timely way.
  3. utilization reviews are completed in an effective and timely manner.
  4. clinical staff feel professionally challenged, appreciated and supported.
  5. a tracking system for the completion of growth plans are in place to assure quality and timely care.
  6. services provided are documented in accord with licensing, accreditation and agency standards.

Key Result Area #3 - Other duties

This Key Result Area will be completed when:

  1. the transformation education philosophy as it applies to treatment foster care is understood and executed by those responsible to the clinical supervisor.
  2. the clinical supervisor is an active participant in continuous quality improvement meetings.
  3. the clinical supervisor is able to demonstrate mastery of the therapeutic group home manual, transformation education approach and the child care certification course.
  4. the clinical supervisor assists the program director with home studies and licensing of homes on an as requested basis.
  5. duties assigned by program director are carried out in a timely and effective way.
Position Requirements

The minimum qualifications for this position are: 

  1. a master’s degree in social work from an accredited university.
  2. a current Maryland Licensure at the LCSW-C level.
  3. at least 5 years post graduate experience in a clinical child welfare setting.
  4. access to reliable transportation with a valid MD driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  5. proficiency at written and oral communication.
  6. a talent to develop and teach adult learners.
  7. the ability to think and problem solve in the context of the situation.
  8. willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed and be on call.
