About the Organization KMHS is Kitsap's nonprofit, designated community mental health provider for adults with acute and/or chronic serious mental illnesses, and children with serious emotional disturbances and their families. During 2016, KMHS provided services to more than 6,800 children and adults.

SHIFT: Tuesday - Saturday, Days

Oversee the daily meal and snack preparation for the Adult Inpatient Unit, the Youth Inpatient Unit, and Residential Services. To ensure that proper guidelines for food preparation and nutrition planning are followed, utilizing the Grove Menu system. To provide food preparation training to other staff and clients as necessary.


  • Utilize the Grove Menu system, which considers proper nutrition guidelines, to prepare daily meals and snacks.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing and other designated staff to order the food and supplies, while staying within budget.
  • Provide food preparation training and oversight to other staff and/or clients as deemed necessary.
  • Adhere to and teach food and kitchen safety while maintaining an organized and sanitary kitchen.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff and assist them with other tasks as necessary.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.

Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED and a minimum of two-years experience in the food service industry, with proven organizational skills. Essential skills include the ability to communicate effectively and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. Ability to read, write and perform basic math. Prefer prior experience with training others on the job. Food Handler’s Permit and background check required. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.

PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger or handle, reach with hands and arms, talk or listen, taste or smell. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
