Description

Cogent is expanding and our technology needs are growing with it. The Director of Information Technology will have the unique opportunity to shape the strategy, organization, and tools to optimize productivity and improve upon both the customer and employee experience as the company continues on its growth trajectory. The ability to develop a strategy and translate it to execution will be critical. The role will be directly responsible for the development of a strategic IT roadmap and the execution of IT objectives within the company to achieve company-wide performance goals. In addition to the strategic aspects of the role, the Director of Information Technology will also have direct responsibility for leading and developing the IT organization which includes IT infrastructure, application & system administration, security, general IT operations and help desk support functions.

Job Duties

The IT Director will be responsible for a variety of job duties that impact the organization's bottom line.

Duties will/may include:

  • Design, develop and implement an overall IT architecture strategy for Cogent to optimize business operations
  • Select/develop and implement software applications to support business requirements from key stakeholders
  • Institute IT standards to ensure a compliant and secure IT environment
  • Create a data governance approach for reliable and consistent reporting
  • Implement key system integrations to optimize business efficiency
  • Manage IT vendor relationships and negotiate vendor agreements
  • Gather and synthesize business requirements from key stakeholders for strategic IT investments
  • Optimize daily IT operations and implement cost control measures
  • Establish an efficient team structure and measure performance using analytics, processes, and tools
  • Project manage strategic IT implementations
  • Lead and develop employees within the IT organization; define success and measure performance
  • Communicate with company leadership regarding the IT roadmap and associated return on investment

Position Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements

This position requires a BS or Masters in Computer Science, Information Management, Engineering or similar technical field. Applicants should have a minimum of ten (10) years of experience within an IT organization with a track record of progressively responsible roles.

Job skills required for the position include:

  • Proven results with system integration (Epicor P-21 and Salesforce preferred)
  • Ability to synthesize requirements from individual brands into a cohesive corporate IT strategy
  • Highly motivated, team player with a track record of technical leadership and technical collaboration
  • Thorough understanding of organizational behavior, workforce planning, metrics, and analysis
  • Depth of knowledge regarding technology tools available in the marketplace to drive more efficient business processes
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; ability to leverage technology and people to solve problems creatively
  • Exemplary critical thinking skills; unwavering attention to detail; ability to adhere rigorously to quality standards
  • Financial management and budgeting skills
  • Ability to make decisions based on data and statistics
  • Experience with project management of IT-related implementations
  • Experience in managing the needs of a geographically dispersed company is a plus
  • Ability to travel - ~10% of time, Cogent maintains an employee presence in several geographies and travel will vary based on location needs
