We are seeking a Director & Operations Manager for our Design Studio in Chadds Ford, PA! The Director & Operations Manager will be responsible for our Middle-States Region in both strategic and daily operations, including managing P&L. Responsible for contributing significantly to the Company’s market position by locating, developing, defining, and negotiating business relationships and projects, developing strategies to support the success of the Arora Business plan, and making, evaluating and communicating the impact of operational and business decisions. Responsible for the technical accuracy of all products produced through the Design Studio. This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

Essential Functions:

  • Identify, develop and negotiate business throughout the Middle-States Region (Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, New Jersey, Delaware, Indiana and West Virginia).
  • Manages all technical disciplines in the office including: Electrical, Mechanical, Special Systems, and Aeronautical.
  • Responsible for developing business for the region to sustain growth and profitability, preparing proposals and supporting Marketing and Business Development opportunities.
  • Responsible for the region's strategic plan.
  • Monitors, tracks, and reports on financial status of the region, including managing P&L.
  • Responsible for managing staff and ensuring staff utilization goals are met.
  • Oversees and manages projects to ensure success, including participating on projects during design, bidding, and construction administration.
  • Ensures the accuracy of all finished products’ design, reviewing for completeness, conflict avoidance, ensuring Company Standards and clients’ objectives are being met throughout the project life cycle.
  • Provides leadership, direction, and guidance to Discipline Leads, and office staff.
  • Interfaces effectively with clients, outside consultants, vendors and peers.
Location Philadelphia Region - Chadds Ford, PA  
Position Requirements

Education/Experience Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree highly preferred, with degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field preferred. Comparable experience may be considered in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience, demonstrating responsibility for project (or group/office) profit and loss.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) licensure preferred.
  • Valid US state driver’s license (any US state or commonwealth).
  • Authorized to work lawfully in the US for Arora.

Needed Skills:

  • Experience and knowledge of business development as it pertains to the A/E industry.
  • Thorough knowledge of design-to-completion engineering processes.
  • Proven record of increasing business development successes.
  • Proven record of increasing leadership responsibility and expertise, including: decision making, flexibility, problem-solving, reasoning strategic thinking, and accountability.
  • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of QA/QC process.
  • Ability to understand and model Core Values; Communication, Customer Focus, Innovation, Excellence, Ethics, Mutual Respect, and Safety.
  • Exceptional communications skills including ability to direct communication to audience level, excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Demonstrated good judgment and discretion in all communications.

  • Ability to drive and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Ability to obtain airport security badge and meet worksite security requirements as needed.
