Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Assist the Associate Director, Annual Giving and other senior staff and volunteers in carrying out the philanthropic programs of the national setting of the United Church of Christ.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Database Management

  • Serve as a power user and manager of the philanthropy department's technology assets such as Raiser's Edge NXT, Import O'Matic, ResearchPoint, and LexisNexis.
  • Create and monitor the process and procedures for entering, maintaining and exporting data in the Raiser's Edge NXT database.
  • Consistently and accurately enter data into the Raiser's Edge NXT database with regards to gift entry, prospect tracking, record creation, biographical information, and event tracking.
  • Work the UCC Raiser's Edge NXT users to assure they are properly trained and have the proper level of assess within the database.

Reporting

  • Create and distribute philanthropy reports to analyze current giving programs and track goal attainment.
  • Research and prepare prospect profile reports for Major Gift Officers and Senior Leadership.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports to the UCC Conference Ministers on UCC National Setting fundraising activity within their conference.

Communications and Donor Relations

  • Coordinate production of, proof, and process fund development brochures, web copy, letters, plans, mailings and other materials produced by and for the OPTIC team.
  • Undertake written correspondences, fundraising appeals, and news articles for the OPTIC team.
  • Respond to inquiries received through the OPTIC general phone number and email.
  • Work collaboratively with philanthropy team members to prepare solicitation, event invitation, donor roll, and prospect lists.
  • Assist with the preparation and implementation of UCC OPTIC events as needed.
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience.
  • Experience in the philosophy and practice of philanthropy in the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience with data systems, database management, and philanthropy reporting.
  • Experience in gaining access to and establishing connections with national business, foundation, and industry leaders; philanthropists; and other high-level individuals.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities
  • Commitment to and theological understanding of mission, stewardship and philanthropy.
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and religious settings with commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and properly handle confidential or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and collegially as well as independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Raiser’s Edge NXT or other CRM software.
  • Limited travel within the United States.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in custom reporting, research analysis moves management within the context of Raiser’s Edge NXT.
  • Familiarity with Crystal Reports XI or similar report writing software.
  • Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ.
