General Job Description:
Provide occupational therapy services to children who demonstrate a functional inability to perform in an educational environment.
Academic Preparation and/or Experience
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program, Certification from the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapist (NBCOT) and possession of a current (or temporary) Maryland State license as an Occupational Therapist.
a. Knowledge of theory in pediatric occupational therapy.
b. Knowledge of emotional and physical disabilities of children.
c. Ability to evaluate functional performance of children in an educational setting.
d. Ability to provide individual or group therapy.
e. Ability to provide information through written and oral reports.
f. Ability to consult with other professionals.
a. The identification of the student's deficits and needs in order to plan an occupational therapy program.
- Program planning:
a. The determination of an appropriate occupational therapy program that is coordinated with the student's total education program.
- Program delivery:
- The implementation of an occupational therapy program designed to enhance the student's functioning and to enable to the student to benefit from special education.
- Provide training and information for school personnel and parents, which enables them to be more effective with the student.
VII. Management and supervision:
a. To plan, supervise, and direct occupational therapist assistant as needed to implement occupational therapy services foe the school or school system
