Employee Benefits Specialist- WCG 


Wingspan Care Group is currently hiring an Employee Benefits Specialist to join our Human Resources Team. Under the direction of the Director of Human Resources, the Employee Benefits Specialist is responsible for the development and administration of the Agency’s employee benefit programs and procedures including, but not limited to, life, disability, and health insurance plans. As the Employee Benefits Specialist, you will also administer employee retirement plans that include the Agency’s 403(b) plans and defined benefit pension plan. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with a variety of legal and accreditation requirements.


  • Oversees and manages the Agency’s health, dental, and life insurance and EAP plans, including selecting an insurance agent, negotiating rates with vendors, making recommendations to management regarding benefits plan design changes, and overseeing Section 125 plan compliance.
  • Ensures Agency compliance with COBRA requirements and administers COBRA program.
  • Administers defined benefit retirement plan and 403(b) tax sheltered annuity plans.
  • Prepares 5500 and other necessary benefits reports.
  • Ensures Agency compliance with ERISA and other applicable laws governing benefits.
  • Designs and manages employee education/orientation regarding benefits plans and open enrollments as necessary.
  • Maintains employee benefit files in compliance with applicable laws, licensing regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Monitors insurance carrier reports to ensure the Agency’s compliance with plan requirements.
  • Attends scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  • Respects the privacy of clients and holds in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Maintains high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adheres to Agency policies and procedures.
  • Assists with payroll related duties as needed.


  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Five years’ relevant HR benefits experience.
  • Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes, and abilities.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
