Summary / Objective
The truck driver position is expected to work as a valued member of the shipping and receiving operations. This job will primarily consist of operating a tractor-trailer truck in a safe and timely manner.

Essential Functions
• Operate a tractor-trailer truck for the delivery, pickup and relocation of pipe products, accessories and raw materials.
• Load and unload cargo.
• Drive long distances.
• Perform routine inspection and preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and refer defects or repairs to supervisor.
• Keep assigned equipment clean.
• Fuel truck.
• Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
• Plan routes.
• Maintain all required certifications required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs.
• Follow accident procedures.
• Maintain logs required for reporting to the State and IFTA.
• Follow all traffic laws.
• Take required rest periods
• Maintain and protect all property in excellent condition.
• Work in yard performing general labor tasks when not busy with above functions.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by supervisor.

Position Requirements

Work Environment
This position is performed in outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or arid conditions as well as extreme heat and cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in the office or moderately loud when in the field.

Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk and hear.
• This position requires driving a tractor-trailer truck for long periods of time on highways and on back roads.
• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• The ability to recognize the colors of traffic signals and devices showing standard red, green and amber.


Travel
Travel is primarily in-state during business days, although some out-of-state and overnight travel may be expected.


Education (minimum required)
Some high school


Experience
• At least 2 years experience driving a tractor trailer rig.
• Clear driving record.

Certifications / Licenses
Commercial Driver’s License
