Share Email Opening Title Construction Estimator  Description Vaughn Bay Construction is looking for an estimator to help with new construction of Garden and Mid-Rise apartment communities. The ideal candidate will enjoy the challenges associated with working a project from conception to completion. Roles and Responsibilities - Understand contractual terms and conditions. - Evaluate and analyze drawings and specifications ensuring all pertinent information to properly produce a budget, proposal, and/or finalize a contract are within the Contract Documents. - Assemble accurate and well organized estimates and proposals in a timely manner for both rehab and new construction projects. - Has a thorough understanding of the scope for each specific trade assigned - Develops RFI's and clarifications to ensure adequate construction and subcontractor coverage while maintaining constant contact and inclusion with/for the construction team. - Understands how to manage subs for the size/scope of project - Creates bid lists that fit scope of job, ensuring proper sub selection for each project - Minimize exclusions and allowances - Include value-engineering ideas for both Civil and Architectural portions of the project. - Provide clear detailed quantity take offs. - Organize sub-contractors quotations, ability to negotiate to insure quotes meet Contract Documents. - Complete Budgeting and Scheduling for projects and track. Monitor progress, requisition change orders and identify any potential risks. - Establish new and maintain existing relationships with sub-contractors. - Insure site personnel are provided with all proper documentation related to their project. - Work with and inform potential concerns to field personnel. - Provide and maintain unit pricing and database for material and labor costing. - Formulate cost break down from estimates and for project progress. - Ensure all sub-contract proposals meet or exceed Contract Documents, Specifications, and/or AHJ codes/ordinances - Prepare Bi-Monthly reports of existing and future project estimate's status - Take ownership of each estimate - Demonstrate adherence to and performance in keeping with company goals and policy   Position Requirements Qualifications and Experience - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Previous experience estimating projects into the $ 5-15 million range. - Experience in the ICI building sectors of the construction industry. - Proficient in Word, Excel, Project. - Graduate from recognized engineering, architectural or construction management program is an asset. - Minimum 3 years’ experience working in the construction field in similar or related position. - Extensive knowledge of industry practices, procedures, and market trends. - Dedicated, well organized, able to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks. - Detailed oriented with the ability to focus on quality, accuracy, and attention to detail. - Maintain professionalism when faced with aggressive deadlines. - Excellent leadership, personable, communication, and written skills. - Ability to interact, develop, and maintain a positive professional relationship with all levels of personnel. - Meet deadlines with minimal supervision.   Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time   Location Vaughn Bay Construction Corporate Office - Tampa   EOE Statement We are committed to creating a diverse environment and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
