Description

This position is responsible for overseeing accounting activities, which includes financials, cost allocation and journal entries.

Completes the financials for all business lines.

  • Accurately compiles all data necessary for completion of the financials in a timely manner.
  • Accurately allocates shared costs across all business lines in a timely manner.
  • Accurately computes revenue and cost per unit data for all business lines in a timely manner.
  • Accurately completes the financials for all business lines and disseminates financials to identified parties in a timely manner.
  • Identifies, recommends and accurately implements approved changes to the completion of the financials in a timely manner.

Posts journal entries to the accounting software in a timely manner.

  • Accurately posts journal entries, including but not limited to payroll entries, accrued vacation, revenue, receivables, depreciation and bank account activity.

Assists with billing functions, as directed.

  • Accurately and timely verifies patient Medicare/Medicaid coverage.
  • Accurately submits Medicare, insurance, private pay, and Public Aid claims in a timely manner.
  • Accurately posts payments to patient accounts in a timely manner.
  • Accurately deposits funds received in a timely manner.
  • Accurately runs accounts receivable aging reports and effectively follow up on past due accounts in a timely manner.
  • Reviews terminated and rejected claims and corrects as needed.

Performs reconciliation of bank accounts to ensure accuracy.

Assists with audits, as directed.

  • Acts as a liaison to external auditors.
  • Responds to data requests from external auditors in a timely manner.
  • Accurately compiles financial data and other reports for external auditors in a timely manner.

Effectively represents the agency in a professional manner.

  • Acts in a professional manner in all interactions with patients/clients, their families, caregivers, physicians, co-workers, and professional colleagues.

Collaborates with the Agency Administrator, other management staff, and peers to meet clinical, operational, and financial objectives.

 
Position Requirements

Educational Requirements / Work Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, or other business-related field PREFERRED.
  • At least one (1) year of accounting experience PREFERRED.
  • Previous Medicare, Medicaid and insurance billing experience PREFERRED.
