Description

Effective September 1, 2018, a new faculty position is available in the Division of Developmental Paediatrics, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, which is an academic health science centre dedicated to the care of children with special needs, affiliated with the University of Toronto. We are recruiting a Developmental Paediatrician (or equivalent) with a clinical research career and clinical experience focused on children and youth with autism to join our academic faculty. As an integral member of our team, your responsibilities will include the provision of clinical care, teaching, leadership activities and a strong focus on clinical and educational research. The successful applicant must be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Paediatrics (or equivalent). Completion of a Fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics, or equivalent academic experience is mandatory. The successful candidate should be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications. Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada's largest children's rehabilitation hospital and is home to the Bloorview Research Institute. We are a provincial facility that sees more than 6,500 children and youth on an outpatient basis, and we have over 600 inpatient admissions each year. We serve young people from birth to 19 years old with disabilities, rehabilitation needs and complex health and developmental needs.

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital (Holland Bloorview) is Canada's largest children's rehabilitation hospital and is home to the Bloorview Research Institute.

The Academic Developmental Pediatrician will demonstrate leadership in the area of developmental disorders including the establishment of scholarly projects in this area. This role will be an academic faculty role within the Division of Developmental Paediatrics. As an integral member of our team, responsibilities will include the provision of clinical care, teaching, leadership activities and a strong focus on clinical research and educational scholarship.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Role accountabilities will be divided 70% clinical time and 30% academic time
  • Clinical duties will include consultation in the area of developmental disorders
  • Lead peer-reviewed publications
  • Involved in the training of students
  • On-call responsibilities including providing inpatient coverage

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

Licence/Membership

  • Certificate or fellowship in Developmental Paediatrics from the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent.
  • Eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto

Experience

  • Fellowship completion in Developmental Paediatrics or equivalent academic experience is mandatory

Communication

  • Effective conflict resolution, networking and negotiation skills.

Knowledge/Skills

  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of the Centre's Vision, Values and Mandate.
  • Family/client centred approach
