Schedule August 27-December 7, 2018. Varied schedule, Monday-Friday during the hours of 7 AM- 4 PM. Schedule is subject to vary based on operational needs.

Description

SUMMARY
Assists in Facility and Grounds for Venues Parks & Arts. Works and observes in different aspects of the planning, projects, and safety areas for Facility and Grounds. Personal contact will be with staff and the general public.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This list represents the types of duties required by the position. Other duties may be assigned as reasonably expected.
• Assists Director of Facility and Grounds as needed.
• Assists Project Manager and Clean and Safe Supervisor as needed.
• Uses knowledge in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) or other compatible software to map park projects.
• Uses knowledge to take collected data and process Analytics to assist in the Division.
• Uses knowledge in relevant field to suggest improvements to the Division.
• Uses knowledge to assist with environmental and ecological concerns for VPA and how to utilize that data to improve the Master Plan.
• Attends divisional and departmental staff meetings, as requested.
• Networks with professionals in multiple fields and the local community.

NON-ESSENTIAL/MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
• Assumes additional duties and responsibilities as assigned or as needed.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• College student interested in learning on the job training relating to the city planning, economic development, sustainability, architectural design, natural sciences, urban management, or a related field.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES PREFERRED
• Has knowledge of, or can readily learn various software applications.
• Ability to communicate effectively and work with patrons of all ages.
• Ability to understand and carry out instructions.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSE, REGISTRATION
• Valid Driver’s License required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in office settings, with moderate inside temperatures. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Entire office is smoke free.
