Koniag Information Security Services is hiring an experienced Cybersecurity Specialist to work at our customer’s site in Alexandria, VA. This is a direct, full time position with our company.

KSS is looking for an experienced cybersecurity specialist with expert knowledge of DoD cybersecurity and information assurance policies, processes, and procedures to support a DoD customer responsible for oversight of human resources management (HRM) IT, business processes, functions, and infrastructure.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Advise organization on a range of security-related issues including establishing information system boundaries, assessing the severity of weaknesses and deficiencies in the information systems, plans of action and milestones, risk mitigation approaches, security alerts, and potential adverse effects of identified vulnerabilities.
  • Assist in providing responses to secure and non-secure requests from USCYBERCOM and JFHQ- DODIN regarding taskorders, operations orders and fragmentary orders.
  • Provide support in creating a plan to track cybersecurity metrics for Information Assurance Vulnerability Alerts (IAVAs), security breaches, USCYBERCOM and JFHQ-DODIN Taskorder compliance and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) status.
  • Analyze and provide assessments on the severity of weaknesses and deficiencies in information systems, risk mitigation approaches, security alerts and potential adverse effects of identified vulnerabilities.
  • Assist CIO with coordination of Incident Management activities with the appropriate WHS and DoD Computer Emergency Response (CERT) Team representatives.
  • Provide support in responding to security incidents and reporting IAW policies.
  • Assist with providing Enterprise level visibility of all authorization packages offering comprehensive organizational security postures via Enterprise Mission Assurance Support System (eMASS).
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of the enterprise baseline for security controls, which is stored in the eMASS repository and updated with industry standards.
  • Provide feedback and recommendations for authorization decisions to the Authorizing Official (AO) and information system owners.
  • Track Authority to Operate (ATO) expiration dates and provide status to CIO Cyber Lead.
  • Assist CIO Cyber staff in gathering, analyzing and compiling continuous monitoring requirements.
  • Provide support in establishing an Enterprise RMF Continuous Monitoring plan
  • Assist in DHRA Cybersecurity Strategy plan that aligns with DOD CIO Strategy plans.
  • Provide support in the development of any policy documents or guidance as a result of the Cyber Strategy including the Patch Management Guide.
Position Requirements


  • US Citizen and current SECRET clearance
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • IAM Level I
  • Experience with current implementation of:
    • DoDI 8500.01, Cybersecurity
    • DoDI 8510.01, Risk Management Framework (RMF) for DOD Information Technology (IT)
    • NIST 800 Series Special Publications
  • Experience with DOD Incident Handing and Notification procedures
  • Experience in writing Cybersecurity processes, procedures and guidelines
  • Possess strong management skills
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple requirements
  • Working Knowledge of:
    • RMF Authorization and Assessment (A&A) requirements
    • System Risk and Vulnerability Assessments

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
