Share Email Opening Title Aquatic Program Assistant  Category Recreation and Arts   Req Number REC-18-00018   Open Date 6/1/2018   Number of Openings 1   Department Aquatics  Work type Regular Full-time  Grade Grade 3 ($22.11/hr to $26.42/hr)  FTE 1.0  Posting Close Date 06/20/2018  Description Key Responsibilities Assist the Aquatic Co-ordinator and Programmer with the implementation and leadership of aquatic programs and services Ensure operating standards are in accordance with Holland Bloorview Policies and Procedures, Ontario Health Regulations and industry standards Liaise with families and make services accessible to participants who have a disability including performing needs assessments and ensuring participants are integrated appropriately into programs Directly supervise program delivery to ensure high quality and safety Assist with program registration Provide direction, supervision and leadership to part-time staff and volunteers Completion of appropriate records and reports Lifeguarding and program instruction as required Assist with administrative duties Participate in quality improvement initiatives, support the maintenance of a safe and healthy work environment and advance a culture of client/patient safety through work and daily practices Qualifications College diploma in Recreation Leadership or related discipline Minimum of 3 years experience in aquatics including directing the work of others Extensive experience working with children with disabilities in an aquatic setting Strong organizational, communication, report-writing, problem-solving, and grammar skills Superior customer service skills including working collaboratively with staff teams Competency in personal computers and associated software (Word, Excel, Outlook) Must be prepared to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends Required current qualifications: Standard First Aid and CPR, Canadian Red Cross Instructor Award (preferred) or Life Saving Society Instructor award, National Lifeguard Service award, Aquatic Supervisor Training Additional awards such as 'Examiner' or 'Trainer' status, High Five ®, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention would be an asset   About the Organization Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital creates a world of possibility by supporting children and youth with disabilities, medical complexity, illness and injury.
