The hospitality intern program is a unique program that is personalized for each associate depending on the needs and direction of the student and the College/University in which they are currently enrolled. The hospitality intern will work with the department head of the business unit to determine which position(s) the intern will be working in/with directly, projects worked on, and desired outcomes. Each hospitality intern will be required to perform as a high quality professional and adhere to execution of special projects and assignments as directed by the department head of the business unit.

Work with department head of the business unit to determine focus and direction of internship.

Develop agreement/action plan with key milestones for internship.

Once assigned to specific area(s), intern will complete regular sit downs with department head to identify successes and challenges and key learning points.

Together with department head and College/University, intern will present key findings at the end of internship and key learning outcomes.

Intern may be required to travel to different business units during duration of internship.

All other duties as assigned.


As a part of this internship program, lodging may be provided (depending on site) at a nominal cost per week to the student. The cost of the lodging, if accepted, will be deducted from paycheck. This component of the internship is optional should there be lodging available/ and the student wish to stay on site during the duration of program.


Maintain a consistent and regular attendance record.

Encourage mutual respect among associates by setting positive examples.

Maintain a professional reputation in the company and community.

Position Requirements


Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program

College or University program must have an agreement with MLCV operating unit on direction of individual student needs and focus during internship


Must be able to provide evidence of working knowledge in MS Office Suite

Must be detail oriented and possess excellent follow up skills

Working knowledge of computer application software (training will be provided if needed)

Must be flexible and able to work overtime when required

Must be organized and work well with constant priority changes

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision

Must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority.

Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

Responsible for following all relevant DGR’s.


Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group situations, and to moderate-sized gatherings of associates, executives and/or community leaders.


Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals, and work with mathematical concepts such as statistical inference.


Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.


While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

Talk and hear;

See and adjust focus to include close, distance, depth, and peripheral vision;

Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl;

Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.

Lift and/or move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.
