The Peer Support Specialist for the Jail Diversion Program is intended to serve those program participants who are currently incarcerated at the Kitsap county jail. The Peer Support Specialist has experience as a recipient of mental health services and personal experience in the criminal justice system and is willing to use and share his or her personal, practical experience, knowledge, and first-hand insight with clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
High school diploma and has experience as a recipient of mental health services. Relevant experience working with clients with severe and persistent mental illness preferred. Current WA State Peer Counseling certificate or complete certification within six months of employment. Ability to gain licensure as an Agency Affiliated Counselor (or other applicable counselor profession) in Washington State, valid Washington State Driver License.
