We have an exciting opportunity for a Plant & Maintenance Supervisor with prior experience. The main function of the Plant & Maintenance Supervisor is to perform routine maintenance to ensure that facility operates efficiently, and that the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate. Duties may involve pipe fitting; boiler making; insulating; welding; machining; carpentry; repairing electrical or mechanical equipment; installing, aligning, and balancing new equipment; and repairing buildings, floors, or stairs.

  • Complies with state and federal sanitation and applicable standards
  • Trains and oversees maintenance staff on proper safety procedures, etc. to ensure quality standards and service
  • Schedules staff hours and coordinates assignment of maintenance personnel, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel
  • Maintains equipment and parts inventories, and keeps inventory records
  • Schedules and receives food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify quality and quantity
  • Investigates and resolves complaints regarding food quality and service
  • Installs or replaces machinery, equipment, and new or replacement parts and instruments, using hand or power tools
  • Inspects, operates and tests equipment as necessary, to ensure proper operation and the safety of residents and employees
    • Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals and parts catalogs as necessary
    • Disassembles broken or defective equipment to facilitate repair and reassembles equipment when repairs are complete
  • Assembles, installs and repairs wiring, electrical and electronic components, pipe systems and plumbing, machinery and other equipment
  • Records type and costs or maintenance or repair work
  • Attends in-service and company meetings as required
  • Maintains infection control standards by using universal precautions
  • Performs personnel actions, such as hiring and firing staff, as necessary
  • Assists families and other visitors as needed
  • Trains staff on fire, disaster, and etc. policy and preparedness. Performs monthly drills and keeps records per state guidelines.
Position Requirements

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE an equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.

  • High school diploma or equivalent; minimum of 3 years of previous experience in a maintenance position; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Previous experience in a long-term care or hospital setting preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Building and Construction - Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings, or other structures such as highways and roads.
  • Administration and Management - Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  • Mathematics - Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Judgment and Decision Making - Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Time Management - Managing one's own time and the time of others.
  • Active Listening - Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Equipment Maintenance - Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.

  • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

COMPUTER SKILLS/EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM THE JOB which may be representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position.

  • Uses tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT environmental or atmospheric conditions commonly associated with the performance of the functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel or crouch, wear protective clothing, use hands to handle or feel objects and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to taste or smell. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids and odors, dust or fumes.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
