GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

The Facilities Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations of the physical facilities at the Church House. This includes responsibility for security of the facility and building services such as repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical equipment. The facilities manager also provides leadership to and is the supervisor of 700 Prospect employees.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the security of the building by researching and implementing various security measures, such as surveillance cameras or security staff members.
  • Works with HR on the development of safety protocols for the building, including Crisis Management. Serves as member of the safety team.
  • Develops and implements a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements.
  • Manages the maintenance of the building by performing repairs or contracting maintenance services as needed; compares costs for various services and goods before choosing the best options for the facility.
  • Tracks building upkeep as well as anticipated long- and short-term improvements; conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
  • Plans and tracks facility budget; uses best business practices to manage and reduce building costs. Generates reports and reviews of facility-related contracts, expenditures and purchases.
  • Allocates and manages facility space for maximum efficiency
  • Coordinates intra-office moves
  • Plans and manages building reception, cleaning, waste disposal, and grounds
  • Manages contractor and vendor relationships
  • Ensures efficient utilization of facility maintenance staff
  • Performance Management - develops and trains staff
  • Advises on and monitors energy efficiency
  • Responds to facility and equipment alarms, system failures, and other emergency situations involving the facility.
  • Ensures prompt response to requests and issues from facility occupants
  • Ensures compliance with health and safety standards and industry codes
  • Implements best practice processes to increase efficiency
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • Bachelor's degree in business management, facilities management, or related field and a minimum of three to five years of progressive experience in maintenance and all facets of facility operations; or ten years demonstrated experience in the field of facilities management, including directing maintenance and security staff.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Familiarity with building upkeep, structural issues, and grounds maintenance;
  • Demonstrated budgeting and contract negotiation skills;
  • Excellent project management skills;
  • Ability to guide and motivate employees;
  • Demonstrated thought leadership skills, problem solving/analysis;
  • Strong communication skills and customer focus;
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, cultural and religious settings with commitment to pluralism within the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission.
  • Computer and systems knowledge
