Description

Are you a Veterinarian with a passion for Emergency Medicine? We are a modern and fast growing, 15 doctor, Small Animal/Emergency practice in West CLEVELAND. ER doctors work an average of 30hrs/week (NO overnights) for a compensation-based salary with a generous guaranteed base salary.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Required Education/Licenses: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or equivalent degree required. Veterinary license must be in good standing with the state veterinary board.

Preferred Experience, Education and/or Training: Two years of relevant veterinary experience is preferred.

Job Requirements: The primary role of the associate doctor is to deliver the highest quality veterinary care and an excellent client experience. The associate doctor advocates for the pets and their quality of life; builds long-term bonding relationships with clients while contributing to the development and maintenance of the human-pet bond; educates clients and hospital staff on all aspects of pet health; mentors and develops an efficient, collaborative and productive veterinary medical team and actively works toward improving the medical quality and business performance of the hospital.

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the highest level of veterinary care to every pet in a professional and ethical manner while ensuring that the client and their pet have an excellent experience.
  • Practice veterinary medicine in a manner compliant with the State Veterinary Practice Act, Federal and/or State Controlled substance laws and WPAH code of Ethics, along with thorough and correct medical record documentation.
  • Demonstrate integrity and ethics in all actions and behaviors.
  • Establish trust and gain the confidence and compliance of clients through effectively delivering appropriate, gold-standard preventive and emergency care, performing complete diagnostics work-ups, developing thorough treatment plans, communication home care instructions (including behavior, nutrient, training, dental and other preventative care), and planning follow-up visits.
  • Incorporate information gathered through effective history taking, physical examination and diagnostic workup to arrive at an appropriate and effective clinical decision.
  • Preform all surgeries with appropriate anesthesia, monitoring and pain management.
  • Charge for all services rendered and products/prescriptions prescribed.
  • Lead the veterinary team through the daily schedule and caseload, delegating tasks to staff members and improving hospital efficiency.
  • Treat the support staff with respect and assist in their growth and development of knowledge and technical skills.

  • CAPABILITIES: Must be able to multi-task, have good communication skills, organizational ability, problem solving skills, client service skills, Independence, intellectual ability, mathematical and management ability.

· PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS:

o The noise level in the work environment is moderately high.

o Ability to be confident around pets or many species and breeds.

o The position requires special hours including weekends, evenings and holidays.

o Requires sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while at hospital including the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds.

o Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.

o Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

o Associate is routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards and medication/controlled substances.
