Description

You will lead small groups of volunteers (providing them with on-site orientations and safety talks and ensuring that they are well-employed while on the work sites), subcontractors and THFH crews. As the Site Supervisor, you are integral to our goals of building more homes and better neighborhoods and communities throughout our service area. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with hands on construction tasks including, but not limited to, site prep, framing, roofing, finish carpentry, paint, landscaping and clean up. On occasion, you may participate in larger community projects or affiliate events. You must possess excellent communication skills, and are enthusiastic about teaching and working with unskilled volunteers and prospective homeowners in all aspects of residential construction.

  • Possess thorough residential construction knowledge, as well as an understanding of state and local codes
  • Ensure completion of construction tasks as scheduled
  • Properly train AmeriCorps and recurring volunteers ('Regulars') in all aspects of construction and volunteer management
  • Supervise volunteers and AmeriCorps members during construction tasks
  • Coordinate subcontractors and inspections of work to meet industry standards and City requirements
  • Anticipates problems and takes responsibility for solving them on the work site to help ensure schedules and work plans are met
  • Ensure that the affiliate's safety policy is followed by all individuals on the construction site , ensure that the site is free of avoidable hazards, and that safe work practices are being used
  • Ensure partner families actively participate in the building process while on-site
  • Communicate weekly expectations and challenges to crews, contractor and volunteers
  • Ensure that houses are built or rehabilitated to code and pass inspections
  • Perform final walk-through inspection with homeowner and accomplish punch-list items
  • Promote a positive, efficient, respectful, and welcoming atmosphere on site
  • Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position
  • Demonstrate tact and diplomacy when under high stress
  • Able to read contract documents and implement work accordingly, identify issues of conflict between field and documents
  • Respect and maintain vehicles, equipment and tools
  • Become familiar with Energy Star and Fortified Building programs

Position Requirements

Who you are:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED
  • U.S. citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident
  • Possess a valid OK driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Able to lift 80lbs
  • Able to operate power tools
  • Able to operate heavy machinery, such as Skid-Steer and Backhoe
  • Able to lead volunteers on how to use the equipment and build in different phases of construction
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and often on rough and uneven terrain potentially over 8 hours a day
  • Able to work on ladders and heights of up to two-stories
  • Able to organize tools and materials in order to progress work effectively
  • Maintain a clean and safe work site
  • Able to successfully pass a criminal background investigation

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in all phases of construction
  • Site Supervisor, Foreman or lead experience
  • Experience as a volunteer team lead
  • Experience with Habitat for Humanity is a plus
 
Full-Time/Part-Time Full-Time  
Compensation $35,000 to $45,000 per year depending upon experience.
