Share Email Opening Title Phlebodomist - Part time  Category Clinical   Description p>Description: The Center for the Health Assessment of Mothers and Children of Salinas (CHAMACOS) is a public health research study investigating the effects of environmental exposures in the Salinas Valley on children's health, growth, and development. CHAMACOS is a partnership between the University of California at Berkeley, Clinica de Salud del Valle de Salinas, and Natividad Medical Center. We are currently seeking a highly-experienced, licensed phlebotomist to collect blood samples at our Salinas-based field office and at participants' homes throughout the Salinas Valley. The ideal candidate for this position will be a fully-bilingual (English/Spanish) “people person” who is available for early morning work (~5am to 11am) several days per week, and who is willing to travel to participant's homes. They will also be a very experienced phlebotomist who can work independently to collect blood samples. Job tasks: The Phlebotomist will: Confirm blood-draw appointments, Collect first morning fasting blood samples using standard venipuncture procedures, and travel as needed to collect samples, deliver samples to analysis labs, etc. They will also work collaboratively with other members of the research team. Description:   Position Requirements Required Skills Bilingual English-Spanish Licensed and very experienced in phlebotomy. Must be able to work independently to collect blood samples. Excellent interpersonal skills Experience and comfort working with high school age youth and young adults (ages 18-21) Excellent multi-tasking and problem solving skills Ability to independently manage and prioritize tasks with the study goals in mind and minimal supervision Experience working with a Latino population and/or immigrants from Spanish speaking countries CA driver’s license. Hours This is a part-time position which will require early morning work, including on weekends, to complete fasting blood draws.
