Description

Summary of Responsibilities:

Form Carpenter is responsible for constructing, erecting, installing, or repairing structures and fixtures made of wood, such as concrete forms and building frameworks, including partitions, joists, studding, and rafters, door frames, trim, and hardware.

Expectations and Essential Functions:

Show up to work on time every day and be proactively engaged in assigned work

  • Create structures for pouring concrete
  • Build concrete forms for tunnel or sewer construction projects
  • Build tunnel bracing
  • Use level, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying equipment to ensure structures are level and secure

Have a positive attitude and treat co-workers and Supervisors with respect at all times

  • Work with blueprints or instructions from supervisors to create or repair structures using chisels, planes, saws, drills, and sanders

Comply with all SAFETY requirements, including Durr, OSHA and other applicable safety standards

  • Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards
  • Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed, bring problems to the attention of the Foreman, Safety Director or HR Manager
 
Position Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic experience with power equipment, including powder-actuated tools, saws, drills, chippers, and grinders
  • Work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
  • Able to lift heavy objects, walk and stand for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions
  • Able to communicate orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of the proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in construction work
  • Knowledge of safety precautions
  • Understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions
  • Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency

Education and/or Experience:

Two to five years related experience or training in construction industry as a helper or laborer. Must be able to pass a drug test and applicable pre-employment screenings.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
