About the Organization  

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform multiple land development projects simultaneously, from conception to construction completion.
  • This position is a seller/doer model until a bigger local practice is established.
  • The candidate would have the freedom and responsibility to coordinate with other design professionals and design projects under the direction of a Civil Project Manager in conformance with the client's intent' and Local, State, and Federal regulations.
  • The Project Engineer will do the following:
    • Establishing project budgets, schedules and assistance with preparation of contracts.
    • Assistance with scheduling and the evaluation of other project engineers and team members.
    • Invoicing and collections.
    • Achievement of project profitability goals.
    • Maintaining client satisfaction and quality of work.
  • Abide by ATC's health and safety policies and procedures.
Position Requirements

Basic qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited University engineering program.
  • 4-8 years of direct work experience with land development projects
  • An established high level of experience in preparing quality site design documents (i.e. residential subdivisions, building pads, sidewalks, curbing, parking areas, etc.).
  • An established high level of experience in preparing quality roadway design documents (i.e. horizontal and vertical alignment, super-elevation, cross sections, centerline profiles, etc.).
  • An established high level of ability to independently perform storm water management system design (i.e. collection, conveyance and detention facilities, etc.) and erosion and sedimentation control design; including associated reports and permitting.
  • Successful experience in construction administration (i.e. issuance of addenda, review of bids, recommendations of award, submittal reviews, issuance of change orders, progress meetings, review and recommendations of payment to contractor, substantial and final completion inspections, oversight of resident project inspectors, liaison between contractor and owner, and preparing record documents, etc.).
  • Professional registration (Maryland preferred).

Desired qualifications:

  • The individual should be familiar with CADD, and able to permit projects independently, but must also be able to coordinate and work with others collectively on larger projects or on multiple smaller projects.
  • Familiar with the latest AutoCAD and Civil 3D add on software.
  • Excellent written communication skills (i.e. technical writing).
  • Excellent oral communication skills (i.e. public presentations, public speaking).
  • Ability to review, design, permit, and effectively present projects for approval in conformance with municipal ordinances and other regulatory agencies (i.e. DOT, State Department of Environmental Control, County Conservation Districts, Local Planning Commissions, etc.).
  • Ability to prepare bidding/contract documents and technical specifications.
