Our Team:

The Senior Engineering Manager is an integral member of the Plant Leadership Team. The position involves contributing both as an individual and as part of a team in delivering consumer products processing projects and will participate on cross-functional business teams interacting with plant management team members, plant team members, vendors, customers, and other functions. This role contributes significantly to the safe operation and the efficient production of high quality nutraceuticals products. Along with the Plant Manager, this role is accountable for the plant’s results in the areas of safety, quality, cost, and delivery. The Senior Engineering Manager must possess a history of strong leadership, deep practical engineering knowledge and a proven track record for timely project delivery, project management, cost control and customer satisfaction. This successful candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment and interface closely with Operations department. The desired individual will bring knowledge/creativity to the position and have the discipline to drive results and follow established fundamental processes.

What you will be doing:

  • Key advocate for engineering innovation at the manufacturing site; applies engineering principles to design, modify, or develop facilities, testing, machines, equipment, or processes used in processing or production of goods and services. Conducts research and develop activities concerned with the design and construction of facilities and systems.
  • Lead the technical teams to support operations within the entire facility.
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the site’s safety performance by supporting site safety programs & initiatives and ensuring safety with all construction and contractor work.
  • Ownership for capital budgets, capital projects, and all fixed assets.
  • Ensure regulatory and permit compliance at all times.
  • Critically review all capital projects to ensure alignment with Business strategies and Clorox Project Management Standards to achieve required results, timing, budget, and early management commitments.
  • Determines feasibility of designing new plant/ equipment or modifying existing facilities considering cost, available space, time limitations affecting long range plant and product engineering planning, and technical and economic factors.
  • Designs/directs activities of engineering personnel engaged in fabrication of test control apparatus.
  • Provides technical information concerning production or processing techniques, materials, properties, and process advantages and limitations which affect long range plant and product engineering planning.
  • Designs components and direct activities of engineering personnel engaged in fabrication of test control apparatus and equipment and in establishment of methods, procedures and conditions for testing equipment.
  • Studies engineering and technical publication to keep abreast of technological changes and developments in the industry.
  • Directs activities concerned with the manufacture, construction, installation, and operational testing to ensure conformance of equipment and system with functional specification and customer requirements.
  • Directs and coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities of field installations of equipment and systems.
  • Implements manufacturing strategies/action plans to ensure facility supports NPI’s strategic initiatives.
  • Establishes group and individual accountabilities throughout assigned departments for problem solving and cost reduction, both on a permanent and ad-hoc basis, depending on need.
  • Encourages use of new techniques and focus on fact based problem solving. Improves manpower utilization within existing departments and processes.
  • Works to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employees’ positive involvement with opportunity for constructive input/ action.
  • Continually improves safety records by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes. Maintains and improves housekeeping in all areas.
  • Oversees design, implementation, and management of assigned technical projects within the facility. Provides leadership while managing technical plant resources.
  • Makes recommendations for cost improvement projects. Works with Operations Management team in preparing capital project budgets.
  • Coordinates and manages the day-to-day activities undertaken by subcontracted Maintenance and Engineering resources.
  • Provides technical leadership and manages manufacturing engineering and advanced process development for the company.
  • Prioritizes and manages assigned manufacturing engineering related projects, including the development and validation of new processes, equipment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Applies Theory of Constraints, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing methodologies and tools to drive improvements in manufacturing costs, efficiencies and lead-times.
  • Interacts daily with manufacturing leads, supervisors and managers to support and resolve manufacturing/design issues and identify/implement cost reduction projects.
  • Works across organization to identify, allocate resources and establish new product cross-functional teams, primary project leadership coming from engineering team.
  • Supports new product development activities as required.
  • Establishes/utilizes project management tools to manage all engineering projects with appropriate weekly & monthly report outs and escalation of significant issues.
  • Prepares/writes technical reports and technical data such as qualification test procedures, acceptance test procedures, reports, component maintenance manuals,
  • Follows good manufacturing best practices (cGMP, etc.), current company policies and procedures, and other applicable regulations to ensure compliance to applicable customer and regulatory requirements.
 
Position Requirements

What you bring to the team:

  • Four (4) year degree in Engineering theory and practices (Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical).
  • 8+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with capital projects and capital budget process
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Financial and broad business acumen.
  • Strong people, organizational leadership, procurement and vendor management skills.
  • Proficient in Analysis, Design Skills, Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Safety Management, Supervision, CAD, CAD/CAM and Circuit Design.
  • High energy level is required. Creation of a high performance culture within the organization.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • WCO / WCM / TPM / Lean Manufacturing processes and techniques
  • High energy level is required. Creation of a high performance culture within the organization.
  • Background in consumer packaged goods environment
  • Background in Pharmaceutical environment
  • FDA Background
  • Excellent presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences
