PURPOSE:Provide brief and on-going supervision, treatment planning, behavioral and therapeutic support for elementary aged students enrolled in the Bremerton School District referred for In-School Assistance. Provide support to Bremerton School District elementary schools and the Sequoia Program. Collaborate with Bremerton School District staff around students’ behavioral and therapeutic needs.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree in counseling/psychology or related field preferred; minimum of two years’ experience in mental health, behavioral health, or psychology-related field and Bachelor’s Degree in a related field considered in lieu of a Master’s Degree. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Awareness of or working knowledge of Cognitive/Behavioral therapy, behavioral modification techniques, and understanding of child development preferred. Experience working with Special Education population strongly preferred. Educational or classroom management experience strongly preferred. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report and reliable, insured transportation.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, use hands to finger or handle, reach with hands and arms, talk or listen. Requires the ability to lift up to 100 pounds. The position requires peripheral vision. The position may require working in outdoor weather conditions. A significant degree of flexibility and strength is required in this position due to the infrequent, yet essential, use of one’s limbs and body weight as a temporary means of physical restraint of some clients.
