SUMMARY:

Responsible for the successful management of the Direct Marketing and Advertising teams. Provide strategic direction and guidance as it relates to relationship marketing and advertising. Position involves developing customized marketing and operational plans, including assisting casino clients in proper execution of programs, strategic marketing plans, leveraging direct marketing campaigns, and analytics through the available marketing capabilities. Ensure advertising and direct mail pieces are in accordance to brand standards and larger established objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE POSITION:

  • Utilize various software applications at an expert level writing queries and reports within the system.

  • Responsible for thorough knowledge of marketing programs and campaigns.

  • Responsible for oversight and leadership related to Tiered Card Renewal, Tiered Card Sweeps, loyalty mailings, New Business, VIP Variable Print mailings, appointment marketing and other campaigns.

  • Develop customized test and control methodology for ease of use and interpretation.

  • Develop customized casino marketing programs and initiatives designed to increase market share and improve ROS, including deliverable documentation.

  • Develop and execute customized reports and provide advanced training to end user.

  • Conduct front and back end analysis of marketing programs related to direct marketing campaigns.

  • Oversees patron, marketing and player development reporting and analysis.

  • Directs the collection of data and corresponding analysis to provide a sound basis for strategic business decisions.

  • Analyzes and suggests action plans regarding marketing programs and chances in consumer behaviors.

  • Translates business questions into defined analytics and ensures timely completion.

  • Create marketing forecasts and compares preliminary results to actuals.

  • Work with player development on programs to effectively manage player lists and list tracking.

  • Deliver verbal and written presentations of strategic program recommendations.

  • Held accountable to the highest degree for accuracy, thoroughness and confidentiality of tracking records and reports.

  • Must be able to investigate and help solve data quality issues and train users as needed.

  • Identify trends and developments in competitive environments and presents findings to senior management.

  • Responsible for the development, production and management of all advertising campaigns to assure that all plans and programs are executed expertly and on time on the casino floor and with regard to outside media planning deadlines - without fail.

  • Lead the timeline planning and processes for all print and direct mail, and online and social media plans.

  • Review and approve media schedules for broadcast, out of home and digital media.

  • Review the timely processing of all communication request forms, assigned job numbers, and proper logging and trafficking of jobs - and review and approval of subsequent purchase orders and expenses.

  • Reviews and approves the message matrix to manage the flow of messages.

  • Oversees projects through the creative and production cycle.

  • Responsible for the selection, training, evaluation and supervision of the direct marketing and advertising teams.

  • Evaluate in-house creative staff to ensure the appropriate execution of campaigns and programs and efficiency of time and dollars.

  • Work closely with department heads to coordinate effective marketing communications plans and programs are executed accurately, on time and within budget guidelines.

  • Evaluate effectiveness of advertising programs - and provide analysis and results as requested.

  • Provide marketing expertise to other departments for their marketing support requests.

  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures.

  • Assists in developing and managing internet and social media marketing programs.

  • Assists with the design, implementation, maintenance and expansion of the annual mass media and communication plan.

  • Interfaces with all department heads to ensure timely development of creative materials for all campaigns and property promotions.

  • Develop and establish a yearly budget and project timelines.

  • Monthly financial reporting and budget management.

  • Insures all expenses are logged accordingly.

  • Implement/develop programs for support of retention and growth of Players Club/Database.

  • Explores opportunities for database systems advances and maximizing database effectiveness.

  • Displays a high level of maturity, discretion, tact, judgment and the ability to deal with confidential matters.

  • Any and all other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION:

  • Manage staff members as defined by the organizational structure by providing guidance and leadership for the department.

  • Hire, train, coach and develop associates by utilizing all available resources for development opportunities.

  • Supervises various associates as assigned by the VP of Marketing.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to perform well under changing conditions and tight timelines.

  • Must possess excellent communication, strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Must be able to read and interpret complex terminology including financial reports, wage surveys, contracts, leases and legal documents.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing and/or computer science, mass communications or fine arts from an accredited university or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience involvement with the advertising function for ad agency and/or casino environment required.

  • Minimum of five (5) years in database marketing/management or analysis experience required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience with budget experience required.

  • Three (3) years' experience in utilization of applications such as Word, Excel, Access, InDesign, PowerPoint and Outlook.Knowledge of SQL a plus.

  • Or successful completion of a related company approved development placement program.

  • Expertise in all areas of database management including data capture, pro forma development, analysis and statistical modeling preferred.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience required.

    SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience writing queries against relational databases required.

  • If required, must be able to pass company pre-employment Drug and Alcohol test.

  • Must be able to secure license from Gaming Regulatory Authority.

  • Mille Lacs Band Member and American Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring process.

  • Responsible for following all relevant DGR's.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Must be able to effectively communicate in one-on-one, small group situations, and to moderate-sized gatherings of associates, executives and/or community leaders.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Must be able to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, percentages, common fractions, and decimals.

    REASONING ABILITY:

  • Must be able to apply common sense understanding to a variety of situations, in order to collect data, analyze facts, and determine appropriate response.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly required to:

  • Talk and hear;

  • See and adjust focus to include close, distance, color, depth, and peripheral vision;

  • Stand, walk, run, sit, balance, stoop, kneel, climb, crouch, and/or crawl;

  • Handle objects, tools, and controls; reach with arms and hands.

  • Lift, push, pull and/or move objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    While performing the duties of this job, the associate is regularly exposed to:

  • A low-to-moderate noise level (offices).

  • A moderate-to-loud noise level (operations areas).

  • Second-hand cigarette/cigar smoke.

  • At times may be exposed to outside weather conditions.
