SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Document Management Manager, the Document Destruction Operator II will perform the daily route services; delivering and picking up of shredding containers set by the Scheduling Coordinator. The Operator II will provide day-day training, observation, and support to the Operator I.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Responsible for delivery of clean locked containers to existing and new customers.
  2. Accurately complete pre-and-post shift inspection and preventative maintenance logs for Document Destruction vehicle assigned to operator.
  3. Maintain the highest degree of security and control of customer confidential material collection; based on contractual requirements and direction of Opportunity Village management.
  4. Maintain a courteous and professional demeanor at all times.
  5. Responsible for accurate and legible completion of all documents (i.e. service tickets, delivery tickets and customer documentation.
  6. Adhere to all safety requirements including proper lifting techniques, use of dollies, lift gates, use of seat belts and other equipment.
  7. Responsible for the strict adherence to all policies and procedures.
  8. Maintain communication with Scheduling Coordinator of route variables i.e. heavy traffic conditions, lag time with dock availability, lag time with customer specific needs and requests, etc.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Must have knowledge of local transportation routes. 
  • Must have excellent truck driving skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with individuals, co-workers and supervisors (verbal and written).
  • Ability to care, respond and work with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Must encompass professional demeanor.
  • Ability to define problems and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, gain knowledge and have initiative.
  • Knowledge of defensive driving techniques and relevant transport laws.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures and how to identify hazardous road conditions.
  • Knowledge of methods of securing and covering loads, including use of locks, straps and types of knots.
  • Ability to endure all outside weather conditions and high noise levels.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Required: Two years of truck driving experience.
  • Required: Valid Nevada driver’s license and a clean driving history.
  • Required: Obtain Smith System Certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Preferred: Local truck driving experience.
  • Preferred: Fork lift certification or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.

  • A typical schedule for this position is Monday-Friday 40 hrs. Occasional weekends and overtime are required when necessary.

  • Ability to stand, walk and climb in and out of a truck majority of the work day.
  • Frequent bending, standing, lifting.
  • Ability to endure all outside weather conditions and high noise levels.
