Description

The Application Systems Analysts role is to elicit, analyze, specify, and validate the business needs of stakeholders, which includes both customers and end users assigned with the EPIC EMR system. This includes gathering and compiling user requirements to understand the technology solutions they need. The Application Systems Analyst will also apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to help the business make good technology decisions. The Application Systems Analyst will play a pivotal role in ensuring IT’s understanding of business requirements and the EPIC EMR system and must demonstrate excellent customer service and have enthusiasm about the program and the Pine Rest organization.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with project sponsors to determine project scope and vision.
  • Clearly identify project stakeholders and establish user classes, as well as their characteristics
  • Conduct interviews to gather user requirements via face to face meetings, questionnaires, surveys, site visits and other methods.
  • Identify and establish scope and parameters of requirements analysis on a project-by-project basis to define project impact, outcome criteria, and metrics.
  • Work with stakeholders and project team to prioritize collected requirements.
  • Research, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing requirements-gathering processes and develop strategies for enhancing or further leveraging these processes.
  • Assist in conducting research on software and hardware products to meet agreed upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts.
  • Participate in the QA of purchased solutions to ensure features and functions have been enabled and optimized.
  • Participate in the selection of any requirements documentation software solutions that the organization may opt to use.
  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility, and conformity to standards.
  • Develop and utilize standard templates to accurately and concisely write requirements specifications.
  • Translate conceptual user requirements into functional requirements in a clear manner that is comprehensible to developers/project team.
  • Create process models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to developers and/or the project team.
  • Develop and conduct peer reviews of the business requirements to ensure that requirement specifications are correctly interpreted.
  • Assist with the interpretation of user requirements into feasible options, and communicating these back to the business stakeholders.
  • Manage and track the status of requirements throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
  • Communicate changes, enhancements, and modifications of business requirements– verbally or through written documentation – to project managers, sponsors, and other stakeholders so that issues and solutions are understood.
  • Monitor the selected technology over the product lifecycle to ensure it continues to meet stakeholder’s needs.
  • Implement change management processes to updates and enhancements.
  • Ensure technology solutions are kept in a supportable model.
  • Maintain up to date documentation.
  • Work collaboratively with other IS team members in supporting the technology.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to staff members.
  • Must maintain annual training and demonstrate competency in the required programmatic training.
  • Performs other duties or functions as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

Education, Training and Certification(s)

  • College diploma or university degree in the field of business administration, computer science, finance, or information systems or three to five years’ work experience in a healthcare setting. Bachelor’s Degree or above preferred
  • Experience working with 3rd party vendors is required. Experience working with OnBase, Pyxis, HealthStream, Wolters Kluwer, UpToDate, TELCOR, and 3M is a plus.
  • Proven experience with business and technical requirements analysis, elicitation, modeling, verification, and methodology development.
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

About the Organization Pine Rest is a nonprofit, free standing, behavioral health system founded in 1910 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This comprehensive behavioral health center, coupled with the Pine Rest network of 18 outpatient clinics and satellite offices in Michigan and Iowa, provide individualized and group therapy for people of all ages and all levels of need. Pine Rest clinicians offer therapeutic services in behavioral health for people of all ages and all levels of need across the continuum of care within a Christian framework.





Pine Rest has a 198-bed inpatient hospital program with a 36-bed child and adolescent inpatient and a large partial hospital program for adolescents. Additionally, Pine Rest has many inpatient services for adults, including: four 22-bed adult inpatient units each designed for a different level of acuity, a 22-bed co-occurring substance use disorder adult inpatient unit, a large adult partial hospital program, and a 26-bed older adult inpatient unit.





The Pine Rest Community and Residential Services Division also provides a wide array of services. With over 220 residential beds across a variety of programs, including treatment for substance use disorders, homes for adults with intellectual and developmental disorders, adults with mental illness, and a program for youth aged 11-18 with extensive trauma histories focusing on trauma treatment and life skills programming.





The Pine Rest Behavioral Health Solutions Division partners with behavioral health and medical organizations to increase access to psychiatry services and to provide a continuum of behavioral health and telepsychiatry services throughout many communities across the State of Michigan.
