The Certified Peer Counselor supports the multidisciplinary team of the Crisis Triage Facility by providing and tracking discharge-planning services that are complex, multi system, and specific for the people we serve on the inpatient units. Using lived experience, Certified Peer Counselor focuses on providing hope and discussing practicality with the individuals supported. Having made use of various resources, the Certified Peer Counselor assists the discharging person with navigation of external resources.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Current WA State Peer Counseling certificate or complete certification within six months of employment. Preference for lived experience in an inpatient or crisis setting. Ability to gain licensure as an Agency Affiliated Counselor (or other applicable counselor profession) in Washington State, valid Washington State Driver License and Food Handler card. High School Diploma or GED required. A bachelor’s degree in a counseling-related field is preferred. Ability to provide client transportation in an agency vehicle.
PHYSICAL CONSIDERATIONS: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to stand, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with hands and arms, ascend and descend stairs, talk or listen and lift up to 25 pounds. Peripheral vision is also required for this position.
