Spend the summer working with teens on climate action projects and inspiring people from all communities to save wildlife with Woodland Park Zoo!

We are excited to welcome a new member to our dynamic Community Engagement Team. Join us and support the zoo’s efforts to prioritize access and inclusion through outreach and education programming!

What you’ll do:

  1. Support Seattle Youth Climate Action Network (SYCAN) summer programing. This is your opportunity to empower Seattle-area youth to address climate change in their communities through education, leadership and action! This position will mentor program participants, support logistics, and help to plan and staff events.
  2. Represent the zoo at community events and festivals throughout Seattle and King County. You’ll get to engage community members of all ages and backgrounds through educational programing and activities!

When we’ll need you:

  • This is a temporary, variable hour, non-benefited opportunity
  • Expected schedule: ~ 40 hours July-August; part-time in June, September and October

Who we’re looking for:

  • Passion: You love working with and inspiring teens and you are eager to support WPZ’s mission
  • Communication: You are a skilled communicator who is excited to connect with people from all backgrounds and walks of life
  • Attitude: You are open-minded, upbeat and seeking a fun, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Background: You’ve had experience in natural sciences, conservation and/or community engagement with an equity and social justice lens
  • Reliability: You are dependable and well-organized
  • Speaking multiple languages is a plus!
