Description

PURPOSE:
Perform comprehensive psychiatric medical assessment of the client and to participate in the planning and development of a treatment approach which includes all aspects of the bio/psychosocial model. To provide clinical leadership and teaching and incorporate and use the observation and expertise of other members of the treatment team. To be aware of the limitations and the capabilities of the treatment unit so that a functional, doable approach can be taken. To maintain and enhance the functioning of the treatment unit so the most effective approach possible can be taken. To use knowledge from psychiatry as well as related disciplines in all of these endeavors. To document the Crisis Triage stay with an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation, regular Progress Notes, and a Discharge Summary.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Provide both medical and psychiatric admission evaluations for clients admitted to the Unit.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric and medical treatment including obtaining necessary consultation for clients at the Crisis Triage Facility. This includes evaluation and monitoring of both psychiatric and medical medications, other somatic treatments as well as psychosocial aspects of treatment.
  • Participate as a team member, keeping in mind the above stated purpose.
  • Participate in development of medical/nursing policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance utilization review for the Units and for the agency as a whole.
  • Coordinate clinical decisions with outpatient treatment teams.
  • Provide charting/reports and client documentation as necessary in a complete, accurate, and timely manner.
  • Participate in on-call coverage for the 24-hour programs. This coverage typically runs from 5:00 in the evening to 8:00 in the morning on weekdays and on weekends, and occurs on rotation with the other providers.
  • Participate in education program for KMHS clinical staff.
  • In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.
 
Position Requirements

Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy, or ARNP. License to practice medicine in the state of Washington. .
