We have an exciting opportunity for an EMC Design Engineer located in Kokomo, IN. The EMC Design Engineer will support the new Engineering Quality Initiative.

Responsibilities:

  • Review Schematics, Parts Placement and Layouts for Compliance to EMC Design Standards

  • Review Mechanical Housings for Compliance to EMC Design Standards

  • Perform EMC simulations with RF simulators

  • Perform EMC simulations with analog circuit simulators

  • Review EMC Test data (formal & precompliance data) to assist in Root Cause and Corrective Actions

  • Identify regional needs for EMC Capital Equipment & Execute Capital Procurement Plans

  • Mentoring of Product Line EMC Personnel @ Design Centers in region

  • Monitor new EMC Technologies & Design Methods and evaluate adequacy for implementation

  • Assist in improving Global EMC Design Processes

  • Assist in development & checking of automated EMC Review tools/scripts

  • Assist Product Teams in Bench Level EMC testing

  • Assist Product Teams in initial EMC Planning & Control Plan generation

  • Assist Product Teams in the development of EMC-robust Load Boxes/Simulators

  • Assist Product Teams in the development of adequate EMC Test Plans

  • Assist in identifying updates for EMC Design Standards

  • Assist in identifying updates for EMC Training needs and provide regional EMC Training

  • Develop new Pre-compliance/Bench EMC tests as needed

  • Review IC Level EMC Data for adequacy to meet product needs

  • Assist Component Engineering in driving IC Level EMC Improvement at Suppliers

 
Position Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

  • BSEE

  • 5+ years of Automotive EMC test standards

  • 5+ years of experience with Spectrum Analyzer/EMI Receiver

  • 5+ years of experience within hands-on EMC Lab Troubleshooting

  • 2+ years of Signal integrity experience

  • 2+ years of experience with EMC for high speed serial communications links

  • 2+ years of analog circuit simulator experience

  • 2+ year of experience with RF concepts, RF Simulation for EMC (HFSS, SiWave)

  • 2+ years of advanced proficiency with Excel

  • 2+ years of experience with Impedance and Network Analyzer

  • 1+ year of Multi-layer PCB design core knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MSEE preferred

  • Basic Unigraphics skills

  • EMCWare experience

  • Experience with IEC IC level EMC specifications/methods

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics SCH, L/O, SI, EMC tools

  • Familiarity with IBIS models; Java/VB-scripting; Microwave circuit design/layout; RF Simulation (CST, FEKO, ADS, NIMBIC);

  • Skilled with Signal generators, RF power meters & RF amplifiers

  • Willingness to travel (<10% of time)

  • Works well with others
