Software Quality Assurance Analyst

As a member of the Development team, the Software Quality Assurance Analyst is an active member of one or more Agile Scrum development teams. The Software Quality Assurance Analyst will participate in the planning of payment software development cycles to ensure that each planned item is sufficiently defined and testable. During each cycle, the analyst will test items as they are completed to meet Shift4's quality standards.

A successful candidate for this position will be able to understand software requirements, create test plans and test cases, execute test cases, articulate test results, and objectively assess production readiness from a quality perspective. Additionally, the candidate must be able to effectively juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

Essential Functions

  • Identify and test software defects
  • Create effective test plans and test cases
  • Document and execute test cases and articulate test results
  • Validate whether software requirements have been met
  • Objectively assess production readiness from a quality perspective
  • Track quality assurance metrics such as defect densities and defect counts
  • Review user feedback to determine how to test items
  • Suggest process improvements
  • Other duties as assigned by management

  • Work independently with minimal direction
  • Must maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion at all times, with the ability to properly handle sensitive materials concerning the organization
  • Flexibility in a dynamically changing environment, acknowledging urgency when necessary
  • Experience with Scrum or Kanban is a plus

Education and Experience

  • B.A./B.S. in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related area, or a combination of training, education and experience demonstrating the ability to succeed in this position
  • Experience in payment processing systems desired
  • Experience with automated testing desired
