Description

Overview:

Under the direction of the Director of Safety, the Field Safety Supervisor will be responsible for providing support to supervisors, foremen, subcontractors and workers related to coordination of the day-to-day safety requirement of assigned project and making sure all are complying with requirements of legislation by monitoring site. The Field Safety Supervisor will monitor the implementation of safe work procedures and maintains/updates all relevant information to the Safety Department.


Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site safety, health, environment and quality audits
    • Inspect site activities for safety compliance
    • Manage on-site corrective actions
    • Share findings with Director and other safety personnel for follow up
    • Intervene at-risk activities
    • Provide on-site review and training if needed
    • Provide consultation as needed
  • Assist with incident reporting and root cause initiatives (injury/illness, property damage, etc.)
    • Assist with reporting process
    • Collect and verify incident reports
    • Assist with the IA process and report
  • Participate in industry conferences, programs, initiatives, etc.
  • Assist in the coaching, mentoring and implementation of the safety programs in the field
  • Regularly review and be familiar with all applicable legislation and applicable standards, to ensure compliance. Inform the safety team and supervision of any new or conflictive legislative matters that could impact the project.
  • Provide safety training on company procedures and regulatory compliance
  • Participate and assist the supervisors, foreman and safety advisors in the investigation of incidents to determine root cause, and corrective actions where necessary.
  • Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
  • Ensure injured workers are offered modified duties and documentation has been completed. Monitor and follow up on modified workers in the field.
  • Work alongside the Director of Safety on progressive discipline for employees in violation of safety policies and procedures
  • Actively participate in self-development and growth
 
Position Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years’ experience in relevant safety field
  • Experience in Utility Construction – Gas, Water, Electricity, Heavy Industrial, Utility Construction or Communications (Preferred)
  • CHST,OHST, or CUSP preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Valid unrestricted Driver’s License with a clean driving record
  • 1926 and General Industry CFR 1910
  • Possess OSHA 30-hour Construction Standards (Preferred)
  • First aid/CPR/AED certified (Preferred)
  • OSHA 500 Authorized Outreach Trainer (Preferred)

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Working knowledge of OSHA Construction Standards CFR1926 and DOT requirements
  • Familiarity with ANSI, ASTM, NIOSH, CDC, NFPA
