We provide support services and advocacy to 400 adults and children and their families in Harford and Cecil Counties. Description

Position Summary:

This position will be responsible for the coordination, execution, and follow-up of all medical appointments throughout the Supported Living department.

Position Responsibilities:

In a manner consistent with supporting The Arc NCR Mission Statement the Medical Services Specialist shall do the following:

Quality Support

  • Organizes and supports individuals in completing all scheduled medical appointments
  • This position may be on call at times to support urgent care visits and ER visits
  • Will need to pick up and drop off individuals from a variety of locations to include work, home, day programs, etc.
  • Will ensure All necessary paperwork is taken and completed by the appropriate physician for all medical appointments
  • Ensures all medical documentation is filed appropriately and back-up copies are given copy given to the Supported Living Administrative Assistant with 48 hours
  • Ensures written scripts are given at time of appointment for any medication changes to include discontinued medications, new medications, and dosage or time changes.
  • Ensures all medication changes and follow-ups are communicated to the Supported Living Supervisor immediately.
  • Faxes all medication changes to the pharmacy and ensures they have been received.
  • Places all follow-up recommendations in SharePoint to ensure completion
  • Keeps detailed documentation of all appointments ran Will assist in getting PMOF (Physicians Medical Order Form) signed at appointments as well if needed

Quality Team Members

  • Will act as a sub/floater to fill in where/as needed throughout the Supported Living department including Holidays and inclement weather.
  • Will assist in the training of new team members as necessary.

Financial Excellence

  • Works with the Supported Living Assistant Director and Supervisors to create medical appointment routes that are efficient and uses agency vehicles whenever possible to limit the financial cost of mileage reimbursement.
