Under direct supervision, perform a variety of routine laboratory tests or other laboratory work to help provide top quality and safe products that meet customer requirements and specifications. Assist Plant operations personnel with quality and processing questions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn accurately test, monitor, and document quality results and processing data for products produced.
  • Audit, verify and follow-up process controls such as weight checks, batch sheets, FSMA plant inspections, receiving, etc.
  • Support process variations as they relate to formula adjustments to satisfy customer requirements.
  • Maintain a high and effective level of communication with all operating departments.
  • Learn to operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment.
  • Responsible for following all Food Safety policies, procedures and regulatory criterion including the current SQF code, Good Manufacturing Practices, and the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and associated Preventive Controls.
  • Learn, understand and apply the functionality of the Hold Program.
  • Utilize AS400 computer system for necessary quality functions.
  • Maintain and complete files and documentation accurately and timely.
  • Work toward gaining the knowledge and understanding of the crystallizing and tempering process for oils and margarines, the process for mayonaisses, dressings, and sauces production.
Position Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year experience in job related function.
  • Previous Chemistry training is a must.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a manufacturing lab enviroment is preferred.
  • Experience in pre operational check activities a plus.
  • Shift flexibility required. Schedule may vary based on business needs.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Good math, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and be a self-starter.
  • Good inter-personal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels.
  • Excellent Teamwork skills are a must.
  • Must be physically able to perform the duties of the job including lifting up to 50 lbs
