This is your opportunity to join the dynamic team at Woodland Park Zoo! Applications are now being accepted for a Cash Office Clerk in our Accounting department. There is one, temporary, non-benefited position to fill at this time. This position will work up to 40 hours a week during our high season (May - September).

SUMMARY

The Cash Office Clerk is a seasonal position which processes gate deposits and helps with customer transaction inquiries by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare daily gate deposits and work with cash delivery personnel.
  • Facilitate cash/coin exchanges for Ticketing & Membership Associates.
  • Help ensure main change vault maintained at correct levels.
  • Fulfill petty cash requests and requests for change banks for event use.
  • Handle external customer calls in relation to admission issues, including processing refunds when warranted.
  • Assist with auditing gate staff for compliance of required procedures and policy.
  • Assist with the handling processes for City Passes, complimentary tickets, and other special admissions mechanisms.
  • Maintain control records, files and other paperwork
  • Assist with related special projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not perform any supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Two year certificate from college or technical school preferred; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Previous cash handling experience required.

Specific qualifications are that very important to the success of this position:

  • Must be proficiency with desktop applications such as MS Excel and Word along with general computer use skills
  • Possess strong telephone skills
  • Possess a professional and positive attitude in a stressful environment
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Able to understand, explain, and enforce policies to on-site staff, other zoo departments and the general public in a clear and confident manner
  • Have strong cash handling skills
  • Have good analytical and sound decision making skills
  • Have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Be interested in and enthusiastic about the zoo

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
