Position will work in the Power Production Asset Management Department. This department focuses on Asset Management and Maintenance Optimization of the equipment associated with generating power or passing water at the District's main hydroelectric generating plants, Priest Rapids and Wanapum Dams. The small hydro plants that the District operates and maintains, Quincy Chute and Potholes East Canal, are also the responsibility of the department.

Primary functions include developing small design changes requested by plant staff to make field work more efficient, evaluating maintenance plans, reviewing and updating asset and maintenance information in the District's MAXIMO maintenance database, and researching replacement options for equipment, components, and spare parts. This position will also evaluate safety work orders and may design access, fall protection and personnel ergonomic improvements. Applicant should be enrolled in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Technology Program. It is desirable that the applicant has completed statics, dynamics, strength of materials and machine design classwork. Position will include providing engineering support for the District's Mechanical, Electrical, and Operations crews at the generating plants.

Position Requirements

Student Intern Wages – A copy of a current transcript will be required to establish wage levels (effective 2/26/16).

Level 1- $18.75 per hour
Student interns who have completed less than 135 quarter or 90 semester hours of credit pursuing a degree will be compensated at Level 1.

Level 2 - $21.09 per hour
Student Interns who have completed 135 quarter or 90 semester hours will be compensated at Level 2. A copy of a current transcript will be required to determine the wage level.


  • The successful candidate must be registered at a college or university and be in good standing at their school.
  • Provide proof of, and be admitted to, an accredited college or university, with intent to continue enrollment as a full-time student in the next quarter or semester (excluding summer).
  • Provide proof of, and maintain, an overall cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher.
  • Provide proof of, and maintain, full-time student status.
  • Possess a current Driver’s License.
