We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelors degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Computer, Controls, or BioProcessing Engineering for an internship during the summer of 2018. This summer internship opportunity is within the Engineering and Automation group. Core Responsibilities: · Assist the process engineers with daily engineering activities and participate in or lead engineering projects related to biotech large scale manufacturing · Review and draft engineering diagrams such as wiring diagrams, network architecture, and piping & instrumentation diagrams · Author and execute field tests on manufacturing process equipment · Author and execute simulation tests on automated process equipment · Assist with database for project development tracking · Review new equipment and system design packages What are the objectives/goals of the position? The intern will learn more about process and automation engineering, specifically, and biopharmaceutical manufacturing generally. The intern will learn and/or expand GMP knowledge and application. The intern will learn aspects of automation and process control. The intern will learn how to read drawings (P&ID, AF&D, wiring, etc.). The intern will contribute to the engineering team by identifying areas of inefficiency and improvement. The intern will also learn and implement lean principles and bahaviors What are the primary duties of this position? The primary duties are as follows: assisting with engineering projects and lean initiatives; developing a system status tracker for project development and implementation; earning a yellow belt by removing an area of inefficiency and/or waste; assisting with CIP improvements; assisting with Spare Parts management; and visual management.
