Description

The Collections Administrator is responsible for ensuring loan delinquencies are kept to a minimum, facilitating settlement or plans for repayment, assisting with the management/collection of overdrawn checking accounts, reporting delinquencies to investors, including Fannie Mae, and managing Bank-owned properties This position includes high customer contact. Applicant must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to interact effectively with Borrowers, Bank personnel and external vendors/counsel.

Key responsibilities include performing all aspects of collection activities, maintaining a high level of service quality, producing detailed and accurate reporting and loan files, monitoring/managing borrower contact and correspondence.

RESULTS

Collection Responsibilities (70%)

  1. Daily monitoring of the Bank's loan portfolio for delinquent loans. Communicate through telephone, email and/or letter with Borrowers in accordance with Bank and Investor requirements to collect delinquencies. Facilitate/Negotiate the set-up of repayment plans and monitor/manage collection of the plans. Analyze financial condition of delinquent Borrowers in order to recommend repayment strategy.
  2. Regular and varied reporting of delinquency status with emphasis on improving/preventing delinquencies. Provide assistance to Bank customers relating to loan details, payment submission or application of payment, credit reporting, repayment options.
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed loan files with complete notes of collection efforts, court proceeds, legal actions.
  4. Cross-train in loan servicing functions as needed.

Compliance (30%)

  1. Is aware of and complies with Bank policies and procedures
  2. Is aware of and complies with the Fair Debt Collection Procedures Act
  3. Is aware of and complies with FNMA Delinquency Management and Default Prevention guidelines
  4. Is aware of and complies with CRA guidelines and policies and the Bank's non-discrimination policy
  5. Completes e-learning compliance and training assignment by due date

Position Requirements

Requirements

Educational and experience requirements include:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Prior banking or loan-related experience, with prior collection experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Computer literate and experienced in Word, Excel
  • Detail orientated with excellent organizational and follow up skills
  • Highly self-directed and motivated

While performing the duties of this job the employee:

  • Is regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, such as, a copy machine, calculator, phone, and computer printer. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 80% of the time.
  • Is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as, viewing a computer terminal and determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of work assigned to self and staff.
  • Is required to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word to convey detailed instructions to customers and other employees accurately.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • Must be analytical, detail oriented, and organized.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and handle shifting multiple priorities
  • Position is considered sedentary and may require employee to lift up to 10 pounds.
  • Must have own transportation to travel to Bank-owned properties or pending foreclosures on occasion
