Intern: MedImmune Translational Medicine

Translational Medicine/Bioinformatics Intern

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. MedImmune is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines.

We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or a related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Translational Medicine department.

The objective of this role is to profile IncRNA expression data and study the complex expression pattern of the IncRNAs and association with PD1/PD-L1 checkpoint blockage inhibitor(s) in cancer patients.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Normalize and process the raw whole transcriptional NGS (RNAseq) data
  • Pattern reorganization with computational and statistical analysis tool
  • Hypothesis generation with integrated molecule biology knowledge

 
Position Requirements

Position Requirements:

  • NSG data process skills
  • Preference for programming with R, Perl
  • Undergraduate Juniors, Seniors or Graduate level students
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0+
