We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences, Engineering, Biology, or related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Cardiovascular Renal Metabolism (CVRM) department. The objective of this internship is to become familiar with basic laboratory techniques and to help elucidate the mechanism of action of hormone-mediated improvements in glycemic control in skeletal muscle. Core Responsibilities: Work with a mentor to set-up a series of experiments to test the hypothesis that muscle glucose disposal is mediated indirectly by hormone action. This can be achieved through in vitro work as well as confocal imaging. Train with CVRM colleagues to learn required laboratory skills. Implement, conduct, analyze and present research findings. |
