ANNOUNCING: Part Time

OVERVIEW: The employee occupying this position will be responsible for welcoming customers by determining their coffee interests and needs. Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions. Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, expresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino. Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs. Additionally responsible for generating sales, housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash register operations (POS) and operation of tribal convenience store. Must have ability to work with the public, be neat, courteous, tactful, have customer service skills, knowledge of merchandise and respond to customer inquiry, and pleasant at all times.

LOCATION: Lower Elwha Smoke Shop

WAGE: Grade 9/0 Part Time Position; hours will vary for On Call and must have ability to work varied hours/days as business dictates (must be available at all times).

SUPERVISOR: Store Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Welcomes customers by determining their coffee interests and needs.

  • Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.

  • Prepares and sells coffee drinks by following prescribed recipes and preparation techniques for coffee drinks, such as, expresso, expresso lungo, caffe latte, and cappuccino.

  • Keeps equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.

  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following organization standards and sanitation regulations.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading coffee, retail trade, and food service publications; maintaining personal networks.

  • Enhances coffee shop reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Balancing of shift receipts and daily deposits; removes and records amount of cash in register at end of their shift.

  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards, solid product knowledge and all other components of customer service; answer customer's questions concerning merchandise.

  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display, maintenance and store housekeeping.

  • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock; ensure re-wraps are done promptly.

  • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash and media accountabilities at POS register.

    KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents

  • Ability to speak effectively with customers

  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

  • Must be able to work with minimum amount of supervision under stressful conditions.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED

  • One year sales clerk preferable

  • Knowledge and experience in math and include percentages

  • Inventory calculations

  • Knowledge of store merchandise

  • Experience working with cash register operations desired; must be able to use calculator

  • Food Handlers Permit

    OTHER DUTIES:

  • Obtains or receives merchandise, totals bill, accepts payment and makes change for convenience store

  • Sets up advertising displays or arranges merchandise on counters or tables to promote sales

  • Wraps or bags merchandise for customers

  • Clean counters, shelves, tables, sweep and mop; take out garbage daily; making sure all coolers, shelves tables & slots for single pack of cigarettes are fully stocked at all times

  • Additional assignments as required relevant to job duties

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 30 pounds or more of store merchandise

  • Must have phone number you can be reached at all times.

    Indian preference in hiring shall apply in accordance with P.L93-638 and Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Personnel Policies and Procedures.
