Delphi Technologies Powertrain provides integration of full end-to-end gasoline and diesel engine management systems including fuel handling, fuel injection, combustion, electronic controls, test and validation capabilities, electric and hybrid electric vehicle power electronics, aftermarket and original equipment services. Powertrain designs solutions to optimize powertrain power and performance, while helping customers meet new emissions and fuel economy regulations.

About this position

Offer an opportunity to analyze, design, and test Power Electronics Inverter Systems for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.

Responsibilities and duties

  • Provide technical leadership to a multi-disciplined design team

  • Lead the system design for automotive power electronics projects including high voltage inverters, DC/DC converters, and on-board chargers.

  • Create mechanization drawings and allocate functional requirements to specific hardware & software elements

  • Develop & document software requirements

  • Establish traceability between product verification and requirements

  • Specify, design, and oversee assembly of the lab bench environment to support product development and evaluation.

  • Define and support product evaluation and validation activities, including leading and overseeing check out and debug of new hardware & software in a lab bench environment using bench instrumentation and tools.

  • Lead troubleshooting of product failures

  • Communicate project technical status internally and externally

  • Some travel and a flexible work schedule on occasion

Position Requirements

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology

  • 2 semesters course work with power electronics systems, could include: inverter systems, inverter architecture, inverter components, and inverter functionality

Nice to haves (preferred qualifications)

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology, specialization in Power Electronics

  • Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:design of power electronics, development of automotive embedded systems,system simulation and modeling tools (e.g. Matlab/Simulink), on-board diagnostics, and design approaches to meet functional safety requirements, structured problem solving techniques, automotive data buses (e.g. CAN)

  • Knowledge of automotive microprocessors is a plus

  • Familiarity with electric/hybrid vehicles

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Desire to be part of deeply-skilled team and to engineer automotive power electronics for the next generation of electrified vehicles, while working with some of the world’s top automakers
