Intern: MedImmune Formulation Sciences Formulation Sciences Intern Location: Gaithersburg, MD MedImmune is the worldwide biologics research and development arm of AstraZeneca, a global, innovation-driven biopharmaceutical business that focuses on the discovery, development and commercialization of small molecule and biologic prescription medicines. MedImmune is pioneering innovative research and exploring novel pathways across key therapeutic areas, including respiratory, inflammation and autoimmunity; cardiovascular and metabolic disease; oncology; neuroscience; and infection and vaccines. We are currently seeking candidates who are working towards obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences or related major for an internship during the summer of 2018. This internship opportunity is with the Formulation Sciences department. The objective of the internship is to investigate the root cause of the particle formulation and manufacturing challenges observed during UF/DF and fill/finish activities of a novel fusion protein. Core Responsibilities: Primary duties will be to conduct laboratory experiments under the direction of scientist. The student will evaluate solution conditions and protein formulations impact on the protein’s structure focusing on any impact leading to degradation pathway of the novel fusion protein. Particular interest in understanding the impact of formulation to adsorption onto solid surfaces, particle formulation observed during manufacturing process of UF/DF and fill/finish activities. The intern will be responsible for maintaining detail experimental notes and observations, record detailed data, analyze and present the findings. |
